Babies are fairly magical, and never are they more magical than during the discussion about abortion. Here are some interesting examples of how the magic baby transforms right before our very eyes!

A model of an unborn magic baby.

The magic baby is part of her mother’s body?

Lisa: Hello Dr. Jenn. I’m pregnant and I have terrible morning sickness. Please prescribe Thalidomide so I can feel better. I’m really suffering.
Dr. Jenn: I’m sorry, Lisa, but I cannot prescribe that drug because it can be bad for the baby.
Lisa: What if I want an abortion to get rid of morning sickness? Can you do that?
Dr. Jenn: Of course! What you do with your body is your fundamental right.
Lisa: If it’s my body, and my right, then give me the Thalidomide please. I really need it.
Dr. Jenn: I’m sorry. I can’t. It’s bad for the baby.

In this real world example, the Doctor won’t prescribe a drug because the woman is pregnant with a baby. The doctor claims an abortion is OK, because a woman has the right to her body, but must admit that the baby is a separate body, with the right not to be harmed by drugs–even when the expectant mother asks for a drug to treat morning sickness for her own body. A magic baby!

Two babies are the same age, but only one is a magic baby.

Melinda: Thank you for coming to the hospital with me. I can’t believe I gave birth to my baby so early. Isn’t she beautiful!
Jennifer: She really is. I needed to come here to get an abortion anyway, so I’m glad I didn’t have to make a special trip. It all worked out awesome for me.
Melinda: How can you do that after seeing my baby? We both got pregnant on the same day!
Jennifer: It’s my choice what I want to do with my own body.

In this example, there are two babies. Both are the same age. One is a baby and the other is not. Here, it’s simply a matter of location. Where a baby is determines if it’s a baby or not. If it’s inside the mother, it’s not a baby. If it’s outside, it’s a magic baby–suddenly transformed into a person!

Fetus, then person, then fetus again. Magic Baby!

Dr. Williams: OK, Nancy, we’re going to operate on the baby. We’ll open up your womb, take the baby out, and perform the surgery. Then I will place her back into your womb, where she will continue to grow until she is delivered. Do you have any questions?
Nancy: What are these forms? You need permission to treat the baby? There’s a liability waiver?
Dr. Williams: When we remove the baby from your womb, there’s always the risk that something could go wrong. The risk of not doing the surgery is certain though. We need to do the surgery.
Nancy: So why the forms?
Dr. Williams: One form is permission to treat. When we remove the baby, if something goes wrong, I need to have all the options available to me. When she’s outside your womb, she has rights. If she cannot breathe on her own, and I cannot place her back in your womb, then I am required to save her life and put her on life support. The other form is a liability waiver. It protects the hospital from wrongful death lawsuits in case the baby dies.
Nancy: OK, I guess I need to sign the forms. One thing though, if the surgery doesn’t go as well as we want, can I still abort after you put her back in the womb?
Dr. Williams: Of course. It’s your body. If you are worried the surgery didn’t work well enough, we can schedule you for an immediate abortion.
Nancy: What a relief!

In this example, first her daughter is a fetus without rights. Then, during surgery, she is suddenly a person with rights, and moments later, she is a fetus without rights again. That is truly a magic baby!

Killing a magic baby in the womb is legal for the mother, but criminal murder for anyone else.

Officer Daniels: Scott, you were arrested for both murdering an unborn child and aggravated battery. Do you understand the charges?
Scott: Yes, and I’ve been read my rights. I waive my right to an attorney.
Officer Daniels: OK, what happened?
Scott: My girlfriend and I were having an argument. She was going to abort the baby tomorrow morning, and she said I didn’t have any say in it. I begged her not to and we fought. Things got heated. I got so mad that I freaked out and punched her in the stomach.
Officer Daniels: You punched your pregnant girlfriend?
Scott: I am so ashamed. I did it. I won’t even lie about it. I just can’t believe this happened.
Officer Daniels: Your girlfriend was taken to the hospital. She lost the baby. The prosecutor filed criminal charges for murder of an unborn baby. These are very serious charges Scott. You could get the death sentence for killing the baby.
Scott: I’d like a lawyer now.

In this example, the mother was going to kill the baby in the morning. After all, it’s her body, and even if her boyfriend wanted to have the baby, it’s not his decision. It’s legal for her to kill the baby, and nobody else’s business. Suddenly, killing that same baby is murder if someone else does it. Is it a person or not? One person kills the baby and it’s legal, the other does it and it’s murder? How can it be murder if it’s not a person? How can it be a person, and be legal to kill? They can’t both be right. Sure they can, because it’s a magic baby.
