John 8:12
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
The light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. Scripture speaks of God as light, of Christ as the light of the world, and of His people as children of light who shine in a crooked generation. These passages are for the one walking through a dark season, and for the one learning to carry light into it.
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
1 [A Psalm of David.] The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. a bushel: the word in the original signifieth a measure containing about a pint less than a peck 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. comprehended: or, did not admit, or, receive
105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. lamp: or, candle
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. hath: Gr. is he who hath
1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. shine...: or, be enlightened; for thy light cometh 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. candle: or, lamp
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: peculiar: or, purchased praises: or, virtues
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; harmless: or, sincere ye shine: or, shine ye
