Patience is slow fruit, grown mostly in soil we would not have chosen. The Bible ties it to hope: the husbandman waits for rain because rain comes. If you are tempted to force a door God has not yet opened, these verses counsel a quieter strength, and they promise that such waiting will not be in vain.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be...: or, Be long patient, or, Suffer with long patience8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
