Great is thy faithfulness: those words were written from the ruins of Jerusalem, not from a place of comfort. God's faithfulness means He remains true to His word and His people even when we waver, for He cannot deny Himself. These passages testify, from one end of Scripture to the other, that the Lord who began a good work will finish it.

Lamentations 3:22–23

22 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Deuteronomy 7:9
