Kindness is not weakness; it is the tender heart of God worked into ordinary dealings. Scripture tells us to be kind one to another because God in Christ has been kind to us, and it names kindness among the fruit of the Spirit. These passages commend a mercy that costs something and asks nothing back.

Ephesians 4:32

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Colossians 3:12
