Psalms 23:4
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Death is the enemy Scripture refuses to flatter and Christ has already defeated. The believer walks through the valley of the shadow, not into it forever, because the Shepherd has walked it first and come out alive. These passages speak plainly about dying, and even more plainly about what lies beyond it for those who are in Christ.
John 11:25–26
