Praise is thanksgiving spoken out loud. The Psalms overflow with it, in dark days as well as bright ones, because praise rests on who God is rather than on how we feel. When we bless the Lord, our own souls are steadied and our troubles take their true size. These passages teach the people of God to lift up His name at all times.
